At the Electronics Entertainment Expo earlier this year, entertainment firm 3001 AD unveiled their new full immersion VR interface, the Trimersion.

Trimersion consists of two pieces of hardware, and the adapters for them. A headset handles full visual and auditory immersion, whilst a gun shaped tactile controller serves as a joystick controller for first person shooter games.

Designed to work with the Xbox, PC, and Playstation home markets, Trimersion is a noteworthy attempt to move VR into the mainstream.

. "Players feel like they are in the game. You look around by turning your head. It's much more natural than using a mouse," says Bob Ladrach, President of 3001 AD.

They plan to launch it this Autumn, at $495 usd. Notably cheaper than most head mounted display systems to date.
