Global Kids, Inc., a New York City based non-profit organisation dedicated to transforming urban youth into successful students and global and community leaders, is seeking a Second Life Special Trainer. The special trainer must be available to begin fulltime work in early June, 2006, and continue through the middle to end of August.

The Second Life Special Trainer will join GK's Online Leadership Program (OLP) team for the summer of 2006. The OLP works with young people to develop web-based dialogues and socially conscious games that inspire youth world-wide to learn and take action about global and public affairs.

Now in its sixth year, the OLP is expanding its role within the Teen Second Life virtual world. Our summer program will build on our work in this space to develop a foreign policy and activism summer camp, in conjunction with our US in the World Summer Institute. The Special Trainer will adapt existing experiential, interactive workshops for
use in the virtual world, co-facilitate the workshops for online teens, assist the youth to develop an action plan, and document best practices.

The ideal candidate is resourceful, creative, and a team-player who possess the following capabilities and experiences:

o College degree with experience in youth development.
o A passion for working with digital media; virtual world and/or gaming experience a plus.
o Experience developing curriculum and interactive workshops.
o Project and/or team management experience.

In addition, we are looking for someone with:
o Familiarity with foreign policy issues.
o Experience developing and running online projects.
o The ability to take initiative and juggle multiple tasks independently.
o Strong communication, writing, organisational, and computer skills.
o A short learning curve around new digital and Internet tools and applications.
o Proficiency with Macintosh computers.
o Accessibility to downtown Manhattan.

Salary/Benefits

Commensurate with experience. This is a temporary hire with potential for permanent. We are actively seeking candidates of diverse backgrounds and experiences.
