Date posted: 15/05/2007 Louisiana Immersive Technologies Enterprise, or LITETM has installed three separate, interlinked IS-900 wireless motion tracking systems in the 3D Immersive Visualisation Total Immersion System (TIS) it runs. This makes the $27 million, 70,000 square foot LITE Centre is the first autonomous data visualisation and supercomputing facility in the US, serving industry, government and universities. Working with Christie Digital Systems? stereoscopic display technology, the IS-900 wireless system enables real-time tracking of users? movements as they interact with the virtual images enveloping them within the 3D Immersive Visualisation TIS. Both head tracker / eye tracker systems and 3D pointers / wands work in harmony in this tracking system, allowing the users to look one way, point another, and still have the system obey their commands and follow both. This enables the user to navigate through the environment while intuitively interacting with the scene. In order to provide superior performance throughout TIS, the IS-900 ultrasonic emitters are embedded in the display so that they are virtually invisible to the user.
