DWL
DWL or DownWards Looking sensor is used on flight simulators that make use of SVS or synthetic vision system to show the plane?s position relative to detailed terrain, buildings, and vehicular traffic both air and ground.
A DWL, as the name suggests, points straight down from the cockpit of the aircraft, at the simulated environment, and works out in real-time if contact has been made, or will soon be made following the current flight vector.
