Digital Breast Tomosynthesis

Digital breast tomosynthesis or DBT is a specialised type of digital tomosynthesis dedicated to creation of 3-D mammograms. Digital Tomosynthesis is essentially a method for medical imaging, that involves minimal exposure to radiation scanning of any type.

An X-ray scanner pans over the breast, taking multiple exposures. These are combined by algorithm into a 3D view, details extrapolated, and allowing any number of 2D slices to be taken, even from angles not covered by the sweep. Essentially, a full 3D medical model file is created, for detailed analysis and investigation.
