Flat Polygon Lighting

Lighting methods typically come in three different flavours: flat polygon lighting, vertex lighting, and pixel lighting.

Flat polygon lighting is one of the simplest lighting methods, in which the normal of a given polygon is taken, compared to the direction of the light source or sources, and used to calculate the intensity of a slat brightness applied to the entire polygon. This method of lighting works best with very small individual polygons, and can produce realistic shading.

The greatest disadvantage is it shows the edges of each polygon clearly.
