HITS

Highway In The Sky or HITS is the fairly ironic name for a technology designed to eliminate air collisions. HITS is designed to be used with aviation synthetic vision systems, and augments the virtual view of the plane the pilot is flying, by drawing markers on the SVS display screen. These markers guide where the plane should be flown, to stay on course, avoid wind-shear, and avoid other aircraft. HITS routes are typically controlled from ground control stations, and broadcast to the relevant aircraft.

For highways that do not rely on ground control, see Path In The Sky
