High Angular Resolution Diffusion weighted MRI

High Angular Resolution Diffusion weighted MRI or HARDI is a type of MRI scan that measures the amount of water that is diffusing through white matter. By doing this, it effectively measures the density and integrity of myelin sheaths over a given clustering of neurons. By determining the sheath integrity, the speed of cogitation in that area can be directly calculated.

Brain Reading: Diffusion Spectrum Imaging
Diffusion spectrum imaging is a new technique at time of writing, which allows magnetic resonance brain imaging, at a much higher level of fidelity than fMRI permits.

In a world governed by speed, the Internet plays a growing role in many of today's innovations, and the resolution of disputes using electronic means of communication may soon be part of everyday legal practice.

PET Resolution Increases by Leaps and Bounds
ET scans suffer quite a bit when they image moving tissue, such as a beating heart. No scan is instantaneous, and as the slices move down, the beating of the heart causes distortion that is hard to remove from the result, as pieces do not line up correctly. A solution to this, that increases the resolution as a side-effect, may have been found.

The parts specific to clay working are irrelevant to the virtual developer, but the general techniques and practices are invaluable if you choose to take this route, and create anatomically believable avatars. Ideal for working with weighted bone animation systems.

High Dynamic Range Photography, and Use in Eye Emulation
H.D.R., or high dynamic range photography is a relatively new technique used by photographers to take high-quality full lighting range photos that are near-indistinguishable from paintings, for their ability to correctly replicate the lighting of a given scene, exactly how the human eye would see it.

Ishikawa Komuro Lab's high-speed robot hand
In May 2009, the Ishikawa Komuro Lab in Japan, demonstrated the capabilities that robotic manipulation of objects had reached. They had created a three-finger robot arm, with tactile sensors on its fingers, with each finger capable of independent 180 x 180 x 360 motion. All three were connected to a high-speed machine vision camera.
