Retessellation Polygonal 3D models are usually rendered as tesselations of triangular primitives. This is because it is easier for a computer system to render millions of identical triangles than thousands of each type of a thousand different shapes. Sometimes it is necessary to change a model to be made of more or less triangles. This is either for purposes of higher model accuracy (more triangles) or faster render times (less triangles).
