Building Automation

Building Automation, or Adaptive Architecture, is a relatively new discipline. It is a merging of Home Automation techniques with biometric and behaviometric techniques in order to create a building which has an internal sensor web linked to a controlling computer system, serving as the brain of the building.

In this manner, the building is able to react like a living entity, maintaining its own climate controls inside the structure, aware of any damage that is incurred to itself, and of patterns of user resource requirements; learning over time how to best adapt to the requirements of its occupants.

Multi-Agent automation on the Factory Line
Although use of AI and AGI to give robots minds of their own is something still very much in its infancy, great strides are being made. In this specific case, automation Scientists Fredrik Danielsson and Bo Svensson of University West in Sweden, have created an automation system where such robot arms make their own decisions and adapt to external circumstances.
