Detail Texture

A detail texture is a second or third texture, superimposed on a primary texture to make it seem the original texture is of a higher resolution than it actually is. Detail textures are used when the viewpoint is so close to the texture drawing that the texture starts becoming blocky as it is magnified beyond its intended maximum size. A detail texture, typically a noise image, is blended into the image at a higher resolution adding a gritty real feel.

This tome is, as the4 title suggests, more of an overview for the subject than a detailed how-to. It covers everything from the very basics of computerised model animation, right through rigging and boning, on to timing and lighting ? but it does so without going into painstaking detail on any one topic.
