Distributed Raytracing, sometimes called Stochastic Raytracing, is the most powerful raytracing method currently employed. It simulates simulating the diffuse light distribution and reflection in three-dimensional environments near perfectly. The downside is, it takes a lot of heavy computing power to do this, and is completely useless for real-time, dynamic lighting of a scene using current technology, and for the foreseeable future.
