Functional Near-Infrared Imaging or fNIR, is a non-invasive form of brain activity monitoring, or neural input whose results are derived from the coupling of the neuron system and the vascular system – activity patterns are determined by the concentration of oxygenated haemoglobin in blood vessels feeding different parts of the brain.
