Logizomechanophobia

Logizomechanophobia is the fear of computers and computer systems. Individuals suffering from Logizomechanophobia have an often irrational fear that using a computer system of any type is going to end badly, or that the computers are out to get them, deliberately hiding the data the person is searching for, or crashing when the computer knows the work is vital, and there isn't time to recreate it.

In many ways, Logizomechanophobia is born out of an anthropomorphizing of computer systems, such that they become entities in their own right, even when there is no AI or AGI present. As such, sufferers of this phobia are more likely to seek out or to demand non-automated solutions rather than trust a computer with anything. As an example, they would often much prefer a paper-based searching or indexing system to a computer-based one.

Sufferers from Logizomechanophobia are unlikely to ever accept a virtual reality system, or endorse others using such, as, because it is computer-based, it is to them, a malevolent thing, totally immersing the senses in the computer's control.

The dispersement of increasingly invisible computer systems in the form of sensor webs, Internet of Things, augmented reality robotics and prosthetic implants in our increasingly computerised society makes like increasingly more difficult for Logizomechanophobics, and increases the likelihood of a negative backlash from them.
