MMN
MMN or Mismatch negativity is part of the event related potential signal (ERP), sent out by the organic brain in response to a given stimulation or thought process. It is essentially the deviation from expected ERP, in the form of signal noise, that indicates the brain has detected sensory stimulus other than that it was intended to receive.
Thus, MMN can be used as a form of error checking for artificial sensory data input, as well as a wide swathe of uses across neuroscience.
