Nociceptor
A nociceptor is essentially a pain sensory ending. It detects noxious (harmful) input, such as chemical, thermal, or mechanical damage to the body, by recording such damage in themselves.
Nociceptors only ever send a signal back to the brain, when they have been damaged, and so serve exclusively as pain receptors.
Far more work has been put into using VR to block nociceptor signal throughput, than has been done on replicating them, in VR.
