Passive Simulant A passive simulant, as defined by philosopher Barry Dainton, is an entity that is completely immersed in a given virtual environment, and whose behaviour and actions are essentially just an extrusion of that environment. They know nothing outside of it, cannot know anything outside of it, and are basically just part of the simulation, given a cohesive form.
