Perceptualization

Perceptualization is a word invented by Leiden university's Media Technology department back in the mid 1990s. It describes the translation of perception, notably perception of self, via artificial capturing of the senses, redirecting into an artificial environment.

In other words, the study of how the senses can be tied into an virtual or augmented reality, rather than the physical world.
