Priority Fill

Priority fill, also known as painter?s algorithm, is an easy to implement, completely non-optimised method for rendering 3D environments. Each object is rendered in turn, starting with that which is furthest away from the viewpoint, and then successively closer items are rendered. Priority fill uses no clipping, no occlusion mapping; occluded objects are simply ?painted over? when the closer objects are drawn in front.

An additional problem occurs when you have multiple objects which overlap one another, such that both objects are both in front of, and behind one another. This type of scenario can Priority fill in an infinite loop, as it struggles to work out which one to render first, so that the other one can be painted over it.

Two Artificial Corneas Promise to Restore Sight
In response to the increasing difficulty of finding donors for cornea replacements, and the thousands-long waiting lists that are building up in every country, German researchers have created two artificial corneas - one dumb, one smart - which look to fill the void and repair sight for many.

Surprisingly, whilst a great deal has been written about device implantation and adjustment, very little has been penned about how these patients should be dealt with, post operation, in living with their prosthesis. That gap is where this tome comes in. It tries to fill the void gap by providing an in-depth analysis of practices for managing patients from a slew of case studies from experts around the globe. Helping to show what works and what does not.

There are a large number of new developers coming into the market for physics engines that need help through this complex process. Current introductory books are inadequate; they don't bring enough real-world programming experience to the task. There is a need for an introductory book on game physics with solid coding guidance but which limits the math content. This book tries to fill that void.

Large Image Display: AWGate 5.0: Enzo Loves You
ActiveWorlds Gate 5.0 launched on November the 26th 2009, in readiness for the launch of ActiveWorlds 5.0 on December the 1st 2009. This is one of the more disturbing images. For, there are eight rooms off of the main concourse, most of which detailing expansion possibilities and newcomer help for ActiveWorlds. Given persistent losses in the userbase, and various political tensions between the users and developers, it seems that there was not enough content to fill all eight rooms, and two of the ones greeting you initially are empty.

SAPBER: Robotic Bomb Disposal
Robotic sniffers have been available for some time, to trundle on down to a suspected bomb and examine the site. However, whilst they can lift the bomb up, or trigger it, such robots have never been able to disarm the bombs safely, much less disarm them and preserve all evidence. That task has always taken a human bomb expert, and presents a risk to life and limb. A new bomb disposal robot is attempting to fill that gap, by interacting with the sniffer robot, and disarming the bomb itself from a safe distance.
