Raytracing
Raytracing is a collection of lighting techniques for virtual environments, in which every pixel is lighted by either tracing the path of light to it back from the pixel to the lightsource, or tracing every path of light out from each lightsource, till it either leaves the viewing frustrum, or strikes a solid, non reflective pixel.
Raytracing is incredibly processor intensive, however it produces photorealistic results.
