Simulacrum A simulacrum is a likeness of another item, as close as possible to the original, but limited in function or scope. The word was originally the Latin for ?similarity?, and so it still is. A mannequin is a simulacrum of a person, especially when used for medical practice. The same can be said of a humanoid avatar ? it is a likeness or simulacrum of a person?s body. Simulacra are found all throughout the fields or AR, VR and robotics, for fundamentally, what those fields are, is the creation of near-likeness of the idealised forms of physical objects or positions.
