Virtual Observatory

A virtual observatory can mean:

1. A functional observatory inside a virtual environment, intended to either bring stellar bodies of that environment into view, or more commonly, to allow for observation of stars and astral bodies in the physical world, without requiring physical access to a telescope.

2. A virtual observatory is often taken to mean that scientific observations of physical-phenomena have taken place not through using a physical telescope, but by rifling through the combined data of various astronomical databases.
