Large Image Display: Animatrix: Matriculated: Cyborg Sensory Controls

This single still is from the widescreen version of ?Matriculated?, one of the Animatrix animated shorts. It has been considerably scaled back from the original material.

Here we see a control room deep in a bunker complex. On one of the screens in front of the operator, a live video feed has just opened. What is perhaps unusual about the feed, is it is coming directly from someone's brain. A small monkey in a bio-jar, next to the woman it thinks of as its friend, family, loved one, has just noticed two decidedly unfriendly shapes surfacing out in the ocean, presumably having walked along the sea floor. Its eyes have focussed on them, and its brain processed the images.

Its mind then made the conscious decision that someone else should see them, so it thought-activated its cybernetic implants, and sent the direct data-feed from its mind to the control room.

It seems although it is not clear, that the screen turning on, may have been the monkey's mind as well, directing the information to the person who most needed to know.

Human or animal, a willing cyborg who is not implanted with electronics against their will, and has a compassion to help those they care about, is an asset for any security force. In this case the agent was a monkey, who alerted the control room of the danger, but it could have been anyone able to tap into the machine with just their mind. This is one of the strong capabilities of brain machine interfaces, which we are just beginning to realize.
