Large Image Display: AWGate 5.0: Showing the Rooms

ActiveWorlds Gate 5.0 launched on November the 26th 2009, in readiness for the launch of ActiveWorlds 5.0 on December the 1st 2009. Here we see two of the rooms off of the main concourse.

One of the two is dedicated entirely to hosting of 3D worlds, and tutorials attempting to explain both the benefits of having your own world, and how to go about setting one up. Three walls beyond that doorway, are filled with both world links and web-links, to open in the integrated browser, providing information to those interested in creating a tiny virtual worldlet to be the God of, on the ActiveWorlds platform. It is intended as a one-stop information depository, and works pretty well.

The second, is dedicated to bots ? user programmable sub-programs that you can bolt on to increase the experience. Every registered user is allowed up to three at any time. They are essentially ActiveWorld's solution to plug-in programs, although they only communicate with the user via a SDK the company provide, which traditionally lacks documentation. This room tries to correct some of that, with links to third party documentation for the product of ActiveWorlds. These detail some of the basics, at using the software?s SDK to make your own bot programs.
