The Atlas of animal anatomy, focuses specifically on a handful of animals. Predominant is the equine or horse, with a full chapter dedicated to its structure. Following that are a chapter dedicated to the canine or dog, and a third chapter dedicated to lions.

After chapter three, additional chapters consider several animals. Chapter four is dedicated to cows, bulls and other bovines. Chapter five is the stag, roe, and goat.

The vast majority of each chapter consists of landscape format full page plates, reproducing the animal in different levels of detail, and differing parts of its anatomy. Side on, top down and front on plates are included for all animals, giving a strong aid to 3D anatomical recreation.

288 plates in all, comprise the book. In addition to the full plates, paws, hooves, faces and other intricate details are given close in inspection, where it matters most.
