A speculative, low scientific content book, focussing on the humorous aspects of life with humanoid robots, cyborg mixtures and pure humans. It examines current technologies up to the end of 2008, and then draws conclusions about possible futures based on sci-fi in film and novels.

It then attempts to draw deeper questions about the relationship between the brain and the mind, as well as humankind's nervous relationship with increasingly sophisticated machines. However, basing the answers to those questions almost entirely in fictitious events, does hurt the conclusions drawn, ans often find them at odds with current trains of thought.

Their concluding argument, that consciousness and the intellectual power of the human mind emerge from the complexity of the brain, and thus cannot be reduced to the functioning of its individual components, leads them to doubt that robots and cyborgs will ever amount to more than sophisticated tools, enhancing human life but never replacing it.
