World-Type

Not every persistent, immersive virtual environment is geared for kids, or is even suitable for them. At the same time, adult does not have to mean sexual. Adult can simply be a nice, mature environment where friends can relax and interact without worrying whether they are keeping it age-suitable, or dealing with hyperactive, immature people. Taurius is one such world.

As worlds go, Taurius is tiny. Forty metres to a side, this cube of reality is a true worldlet ? tiny, yet almost fractal like in the longer you look, the more detail you find. In fact, there is so much detail that accessing Taurius is not a task that is forgiving technologically. To interface, Taurius demands a good quality computer, capable of dealing with several thousand high-poly objects in memory, and interacting together.

The product of the outpourings of two female minds, Taurius achieves beauty and intricacy without any sense of confinement or claustrophobia. In fact, as you immerse yourself within it, and open your mind up to it, you cannot help but feel the intangible essence of the world, as if the world has soulfulness, the essence of being alive itself.

The World in Brief

Right from the moment you enter this world; it is visibly adult, and even more clearly, the dark humour that pervades throughout hits you. Anyone who visits for the first time, soon notices his or her complete lack of clothing. You are born into the physical world completely naked; so it is with Taurius. Since Taurius does not allow children however, you are born as a naked adult, and there are facilities in the entry point, including a half-barrel, to hide the modesty of these visitors.

Entry is into a burning cage, suspended above the floor, and just to clarify matters, a sign nearby warns you that ?nuisances will be ejaculated? ? literally ejected with great force.

Yet, for all this abruptness at entry, Taurius is a pleasant, scenic environment. There is of course, no shortage of more adult areas, but they are scattered throughout the landscape, and tended with loving care themselves ? none are sleazy, and all have been put together with great care and taste. Some areas, especially those in a fortification called Horror Castle ? a ghost train rollercoaster ride taken to extremes, would also be considered adult, as they are disturbing in the extreme once you realise what they are depicting.

As with the entrance, many of these are humorous, but only in the deepest, blackest ways.

The world of Taurius takes much from the ideas presented in the novels, by Jean M Auel. It offers a clan system, which provides a home for each individual in one of five clans, each with their own buildings and specific facilities for a given lifestyle.

There is Wolf, the clan of submissive females, who like to feel the guiding will of another, spread over two floors, with all the comforts of home, along with restraining cages that actually work, and comfortable furnishings everywhere.

Horse is nearby, the clan of submissive males, penned in, in an open enclosure or locked in cages open to the elements, this clan has practically nothing in the comforts of home, a rough storage facility at best.

Further away is Mountain Lion, the clan of dominant females, heavily forested, with extensive training and submissive-storage facilities, this maze of a home is not for the unwary, who may find themselves trapped within cages set up for the unwary.

Next, there is Cave Bear, clan of dominant males, and it lives up to every expectation of a place run by men.

Finally, dwarfing all the others, a massive castle, heavily defended with moat, portcullis, guards, and thick walls. Clan Mammoth, the place couples go when they find their perfect match, and leave the other clans, in order to raise a family in safety.

Taurius is a world of great openness of belief and proudly displays these in a hodge-podge that is not in the least bit jumbled, and meshes into a complete whole.

A complete, and functioning recreation of Stonehenge occupies a large swathe of land in one corner, whilst a fortified biker?s retreat occupiues another, with four fully furnished and beautiful homes around a pool. There is a church to the god Money, disaster alley, which features a different disaster for every day of the week, and so much more besides.

Heaven and Hell are real places that exist within Taurius. Heaven is open to visitors ? assuming you can find an entrance, and pass the test. Hell is locked to all but the most trusted visitors. Neither is quite what people likely expected, but both make sense in their own way.

As with just about everything else in this world, both exist on a great many levels of understanding, giving you more and more insight the more you explore and revisit them.

Sub Reviews

Here at Virtual Worldlets, we look at all worlds, whether for entertainment, training, medicare, industry or military use. Thus, we have the situation where different uses judge by different criteria. Below are a series of sub-reviews, each tailored to a different aspect of the world.

Explorers
For some, its the thrill of discovery, the freedom to strike out, to pioneer. Whether its mapping new lands, or exploring unknown fields of endeavour, to be first, to boldly go, this is what explorers live for.

Full of nooks and crannies, of sweeping paths, hidden buildings, curves and side trails, Taurius makes full use of its space. Unlike so many virtual environments visitors cannot fly, they cannot move through physical objects, to get anywhere, you have to walk. For most worlds this would be an annoyance. However, this one gives off the feeling of being in a wondrous, never-ending treasure trove. Forced to walk through the winding paths, you are presented with the illusion of a massive world and exploring it all can take several days.

Everything you encounter possesses levels of interpretation, so even a build you had seen before in your journeys, takes on a whole new set of meanings after you compare it with other things you have seen.

Just watch your step with the butterflies?

Socialisers
The social life is the life for you. To chat, to roam, to gossip all day, and chatter all night. You are the heart of the party, and you are the soul. The drive to chatter, the need to gossip, stretching out, making connections, mind against mind, heart against heart. It keeps you going, it keeps you sane.

Taurius is a small world, and can actually only support five people at a time. This is due to a restriction placed upon it by the ActiveWorlds codebase it is built on ? each additional visitor allowed in, incurs an extra financial cost to the world owner. Despite this limit, Taurius is very, very rarely completely empty, and has a wonderful, diverse group of people with friendly, open personalities to make you welcome within.

Educational
Virtual environments as classrooms, museums, theme parks, or galleries. Holding conferences or training for the job at hand. Holding their own, or beating back the physical for locational learning.

In a world for adults, a school is likely the last thing you would expect to find.

The Academy of Sign Learning, is a two-participant, interactive school to learn sign language. As the screenshot shows, you have two tables, facing each other, with identical keyboards.

Simply click on the words down the left, or the letters on the table, and the hand to your right, displays the correct hand or body gesture for that,, in front of you. The screen further back on the left, is for the other person, so you can see what they are trying to say, and on the walls all around for reinforcement, are the letters and their symbols in American Sign Language (ASL)

Overall
A stunning world that will frequently let you forget how small it really is, Taurius provides a welcome break from both child-orientated worlds, and sex-orientated worlds, travelling down its own path to create a relaxed, welcoming atmosphere that forcefully ejaculates children out.

Taurius can be found in the main ActiveWorlds uniserver, bearing the rating of X.
