Exploratory Learning

Exploratory learning is an approach to teaching which is particularly suited to virtual environments. The learner is encouraged to explore and experiment with the world around them to uncover relationships and discover how complex interactions actually work. Exploratory learning may be constricted to a specific task, and guided lightly, but ultimately tends to be more successful than lecture-based learning as the learner is proactively engaged rather than reactively engaged.

The more immersive the simulation, the greater the opportunities for learning.

Exploratory learning approaches are considered most appropriate for teaching generalized thinking and problem-solving skills.
