Cognitive robot

A cognitive robot is an artificial intelligence embodied in either a physical (robotic) or virtual (avatar) body which while not necessary sentient, is sapient. In other words, it has the ability to process its own input and make its own logical or rational judgements based on that input.

Cognitive robots do exist today. They are often used in research situations: robots that have not been programmed by a human with how to deal with every possible situation they may face, but instead feel their way through with trial, error, and memory.
