Dirt Map A Dirt Map is a texture map laid over the base texture of an object, to indicate dirty regions. Typically a dirt map is an ambient occlusion map, which are normally used as a light map for a whole area. Instead of being used to place light and shadow, this same map applied to a surface is then used for cleanliness, with white being clean, black being filthy, and shades of grey being everything in between. Sometimes the roles of white and black are reversed, but everything else remains the same. Below, we offer a selection of links from our resource databases which may match this term.
