Individual Vertex Bone Weighting Individual vertex bone weighting is a method of bone weighting - applying a weight to the bones used in model animation, such that they actually have weight in the virtual environment ? which applies the weighting to the vertexes where bones meet rather than to the bones themselves. The net result is that deformations occur most strongly at the joints, crinkling the outer avatar mesh the most at these points ? exactly as occurs in organic forms.
