Mesh Level Of Detail With a 3D mesh, a LOD or level of detail algorithm can be used to dynamically resize the mesh according to a pre-set algorithm. It can become more or less complex, as the object is scaled up or down, allowing a single model to have a variable number of polygons according to its closeness to the viewpoint.
