Patches 1. In 3D graphics, patches are another name for Higher Order Surfaces. These are sections of a 3D model that are defined by a mathematical expression rather than groups of triangles. These patches, are essentially mesh shapes that can be recreated simply by knowing the equation that generated them and any additional algorithm to deform them.
