Polypainted
A polypainted model is one which has had polypaint, applied to it during interaction in runtime in a 3D environment. Polypaint is a method of adding textures to polygons without using a set texturemap. Essentially, pixels of paint are added to the surface at run-time, of an arbitrary resolution. If the painting is to become permanent, a texturemap of the same resolution is created later, the painting copied onto it, and then mapped to the polygons.
It is often used to combine effects used at runtime, with pre-made effects, creating a layered texturemap effect, or dynamically changing a texturemap?s resolution on the fly to deal with new information.
Once the model has left the environment, all polypaint is either stripped away, or converted into normal texturemaps.
