Posturography is an umbrella term for the science of studying posture of an organic (or robotic) body when either still or in motion. Its use is to analyse a given posture, and determine all factors involved in achieving it, and compare the deviation from the ideal.
In healthcare, posturography is used to detect defects in stance and determine where treatment should be centred. In robotics, it is ued to analyse the gait of the robot, and ways to improve it. In avatar creation, it is used to analyse the reasons why a given movement pattern may seem awkward or unnatural, and provide suggested methods for improvement.
