Puffy Cloud

Puffy cloud is a type of procedural texture, used for faking volumetric objects, by way of multiple layers of fractal noise generated pixels, layered one atop the other, to simulate voxels.

In reality what you get is a layer-cake of flat texturemaps compressed together. Sometimes this technique is combined with facers, to prevent the user?s viewpoint from moving away from perpendicular with the layers and thus seeing the make-up of the clouds.
