Stereohaptic
Stereohaptic is akin to stereoscopy but refers to tactile sensation instead of sight. In other words, it refers to any process attempting to create a 3D spatial touch environment, without using physical volumetric space.
Put even more simply, the hand moves over a flat interface device, or within limited confines. However, the interface system returns feedback that indicates to the user?s brain that their hand is exploring an open space and interacting with solid, definable objects.
