Telecommuting is an increasing trend in which, rather than sit for hours in a traffic jam or play sardines on the train to and from work everyday, commuters choose to work by sitting at home, and logging into work from their home PC. This ofen allows a better life-work balance, as well as a great deal less stress from congested travel.

Quite a lot of employers still dislike telecommuting as there is often no real way to be sure your employee is actually putting in a full day's work, and corporate networks can become susceptible to inexpertly configured defences on a home PC.
