Augmented reality is sort-of the ?hybrid of natural physical reality, and virtual reality. It combines the two as one reality as far as the user is concerned.

Augmented reality wearable displays have been about for some time now, but they?re only starting to come into their own. More than a few companies have now figured out how to create tiny viewscreens ? half an inch in diameter ? that fit to a display system no larger than a pair of spectacles. These allow the wearer to remain in sync with the physical environment around them ? to see everything that?s going on. Yet, at the same time see a second image, superimposed on the first, that moves seamlessly as you turn your head, perfectly integrating the digital reality with the physical.

These systems are already starting to enter daily lives, with one company, MicroOptical selling small screens surgeons can clip onto their glasses. In this way they can monitor the patients? vital signs during the operation, without ever looking away from the patient.
