Date posted: 06/07/2004 Its very hard to overpower the human visual system. The human eye is so advanced, it can easilly differentiate between modern computer displays and windows. Quite possibly, not for much longer. Researchers from Imaging Solutions Group and the National Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA) Ames Research Center have put together a camera and display system that displays full-motion video at near human visual capabilities. A virtual window for various military, aerospace, security and entertainment applications, the system's camera provides a video frame rate of 30 frames per second at 8.3 million pixels - four times the resolution of HD TV. The system is so good that a person with perfect 20/20, standing three foot away from a screen is hard pressed to tell it from a normal window, and providing compression algorithms can be found, the system will be available for commercial use, within the year.
