Date posted: 09/07/2004 An electronic skin as sensitive to touch as our own is being developed by scientists in Japan. Takao Someya, researcher at the University of Tokyo, and inventor of the skin, said:"Recognition of tactile information will be very important for future generations of robots," Containing a battery of sensors which extend all throughout its surface, and which can detect heat, cold, pressure, even texture, the artificial skin can also be moulded to any form, and made as sensitive as desired. With the near future very ligely to include augmented reality robots, and superiour artificial, or augmented limbs, this research is very handy news indeed.
