Wi-Fi hotspots make wireless networking so simple, its almost unbelievable. Literal just detect and go. Only one tiny snag: finding a wi-fi hotspot can be a nightmare.

Although the UK has a few thousand wi-fi hotspots, London alone has more than 800, that still means they are spread pretty thinly.

Many places that offer wi-fi do advertise the presence of fast, wireless net access but, unless you know where they are in the first place, they can be hard to find.

A new service, launched by the website Totalhotspots.com, and the mobile phone company Mobile Commerce allows your mobile phone to track nearby wi-fi hotspots as you move.
