May. 17, 2010 - Helsinki, Finland
We invite you to the fourth International Workshop on Ubiquitous Virtual Reality 2010 in Helsinki, Finland. IWUVR2010 will be held as part of the Pervasive 2010 conference.
This Workshop on Ubiquitous Virtual Reality aims to bring together researchers working in both pervasive computing and mixed reality to explore the convergence between the two domains. (((Just in case you weren?t confused enough already.)))
Emerging new computing paradigms accelerates the convergence among different technologies and thus makes the border between the real and virtual worlds indistinguishable. (((Especially when it?s spot-welded into your contact lenses.)))
In addition, mobile (or handheld) devices with integrated sensors have been established as an important platform for both Pervasive Computing and Augmented Reality that have become part of our daily lives. (((Out of the lab, into the purses and pockets.)))
This workshop has the theme ?Mobile AR life in Dual (connected Real and Virtual) Spaces?.
We invite papers in the following areas:
? Computer vision for Augmented Reality
? Ubiquitous VR/AR, Augmentation Anywhere
? Mobile/Wearable Computing for UVR
? Ambient Interface for UVR
? Multimodal User Interface for AR/VR environment
? Affective Agents for UVR
? Context-aware Mobile Augmented Reality (((pray you never find yourself in the midst of any militarized Context-aware Mobile Augmented Battlespace Reality)))
? UVR Applications
The workshop will offer a unique window into the state of the art through the participation of a range of researchers, designers and builders who exchange both fresh research ideas and real-world case experiences. Participants will be asked to present position papers or demonstrations related to main theme of this workshop.
The goals of the workshop are to: (1) better understand the concept of ?mobile AR life in dual spaces? (2) identify research issues that are unique to ?mobile AR life in dual spaces? (3) aid those developing possible new applications by sharing ideas and designs.
