Areas such as statistical, probabilistic, fuzzy, evolutionary, inductive and other kinds of learning, data mining, knowledge discovery, pattern recognition, knowledge acquisition and retrieval, databases, data warehousing and visualization, knowledge-based systems and high performance computing are all involved.
