This single still is from the widescreen version of ?Beyond?, one of the Animatrix animated shorts. It has been considerably scaled back from the original material.

Like most of the Beyond screenshots presented here, this one shows an effect of what happens when the laws of a virtual environment become too complex, and interactions go a little ca ca.

Continuing on from Large Image Display: Fixing a Problem, we see the same truck as evidenced in that frame, heading further into the city. This is a definite problem with every world that is heavilly based on the recreation of natural laws.

If you desire to do something that breaks those laws, ie teleport a large amount of equipment instentaneously, to fix a problem, you cannot. Not without breaking those laws, and as everything is interconnected, setting up a ripple effect that damages the simulation around the 'physical' area where you teleport.

Thus, the only way to deal with the problem is to materialize just beyond the edges of the simulation, and drive in - or, have the required materials already standing by, at a designated in-simulation location.

Heavily scripted or even deliberately high level coded objects, designed to seek out and eliminate abnormalities in the framework. The problem then, is transporting them to location, and that can mean a very long drive indeed.
