EANN

An evolving artificial neural network, or EANN, is a specialised type of neural network, that whilst not created by nature, apes the abilities of natural neural networks.

In other words, they evolve their own design, changing the structure of their own code in real-time, in addition to learning via heuristics. In this manner they emulate organic brains to a greater or lesser extent, and are able to change the very way they think in the same manner as a natural mind.
