Tank Programs

Made in 1982, Tron is one of the oldest CGI passive films in existence, and boasts more than a quarter hour of solid CGI and nothing else but. It earnt distinction as the first film to ever combine CGI and physical action into the same shots, and did so for the majority of the film.

The scene shown here, involves activating tank programs. Tank programs, designed to go inside foreign computer systems, and bring back data, are rendered inside the computerised world of Tron as just that: Heavily armoured tanks.
