Wearable Device

A wearable device is any system of hardware and software which is designed to either be attached directly to the surface of the skin or worn like clothing on the body.

Most wearable devices have medical applications, monitoring or regulating aspects of the person's health. However, a steadily increasing number of wearable devices are designed for interfacing with a virtual reality or augmented reality system. A body area network or BAN is often in place, tying multiple wearable devices and/or prosthetic devices into a network centric on the person wearing them.
