1080i 1080i is one of the HDTV display standards. It defines a display resolution of 1920 x 1080 pixels. The i on the end, means it uses interlaced picture format. Interlaced picture format means that the display updates in two stages: First every even numbered horizontal line is updated, and then every odd horizontal line. This is the normal display method used for televisions, and creates the slight flicker you see when a TV output is recorded. An Interlaced picture is actually 1920 x 540 pixels, and the two overlap to build up the full picture. Interlaced is ideal when the display is slow moving, or does not dramatically change from frame to frame. Below, we offer a selection of links from our resource databases which may match this term.
