Framebuffer
The framebuffer is a dedicated memory buffer, usually on the graphic accelerator card, but sometimes replicated in main memory on less capable hardware, which stores the next frame of visual data, prior to being written to the display device. Stereoscopy requires two framebuffers per frame update.
